Intrinsically Safe dBadge Noise Dosimeter
An Intrinsically Safe version of the dBadge is available for use in hazardous and potentially explosive atmospheres. These I.S. noise dosimeters operate in the same way as all other versions, and are also available as "Lite", "Standard" and "Plus".
The Intrinsically Safe versions of the dBadge have the following approvals for use in hazardous environments and potentially explosive atmospheres:
- ATEX approval
- EEx ia I M1
- EEx ia IIC 1 G
- North American and Canadian FM/CSA approval
- Class 1, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, D
- Temperature Classification T2.
The approvals confirm the I.S. dBadge Noise Dosimeter as "intrinsically safe" and suitable for use in hazardous areas such as mines, printing works, petrochemical plants and other areas with potentially explosive atmospheres.
The order codes for the Intrinsically Safe version of the dBadge contain the letters "IS", such as CEL350IS, CEL350LIS and CEL352IS.
The dBadge Kits (dosimeters, calibrator, charger, case, etc.) have order codes such as CEL350ISK5 for a kit with 5 dosimeters.
Limitations of the Intrinsic Safety Approval
Only the dBadge unit (shown in picture above) and its direct attachments (mounting devices) are approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. None of the additional items such Charger or Calibrator are approved, so all tasks such as charging and calibrating the dBadge should be done outside the hazardous area.
