The "Plus" version has both Time History and the extra frequency weighting, which is needed for checking the performance of hearing protectors.
Occupational Noise Regulations
The dBadge measures with both Q=3 and Q=5, making it suitable for use in the USA (OSHA, MSHA, ACGIH and other regulations), in Europe and Canada (ISO) and most other parts of the world.
Is the "Plus" Right for Me?
The Plus version of the dBadge makes all the measurements required by the standards and, like the Standard version, stores the average and Peak levels every minute to provide a graph of the sound level over time.
To these features the Plus version adds the simultaneous measurement of LCeq and LAeq, which can be used to check the suitability of hearing protectors using the HML method. To take advantage of the extra measurements we recommend you have the Insight software.
If you do not need the ability to make HML calculations then then we recommend the dBadge Standard version. If you do not need advanced data logging, HML or even to use software we recommend the dBadge Lite version.
